  Anti-Aging

Many researchers from around the world are agreeing that the free radical theory could be a major cause of premature aging and death. Without getting to scientific, free radicals are unbalanced molecules that attack healthy cells in your body trying to find the electron they need to regain their stability. Amazingly, our body can neutralize almost 99.9% of the roughly 100,000 free radicals produced each day. So what causes free radical production and how do we fight them off? Poor nutrition, pollution, stress and believe it or not, excessive exercise are all culprits. Fortunately, our immune and antioxidant systems are usually quite strong. But as degenerative diseases such as cancer and heart disease are on the rise, it is proof that the free radicals might be getting the best of us.

So what do we do? We can start by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and possibly supplementing our diets with antioxidant vitamins such as C, E, beta carotene, selenium, zinc, CoQ10 and flax seed oil. Eating fewer calories can also cut down on the free radical build up. If you eat less food, the body can use less oxygen in the convergence of food to energy, therefore producing fewer free radicals. Lastly, if we can limit eating foods filled with toxins and unnatural substances and avoid highly polluted air we can protect ourselves even more from free radical activity in our bodies.

Studies prove that most of us will not die of old age. Most of our medical community believes in trying to find the cure for all that might kill us. Partners In Fitness believes that we should be looking more at the cause and be treating disease from it's roots. Taking a pill and treating the symptoms is not the answer. Our views may be alternative and new age to some, but try to keep an open mind and you just might find your key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
